Residents of several Russian cities located in Chelyabinsk region were alarmed to wake up to odd-coloured snow in the streets. So far, authorities have failed to offer an explanation. However, several samples of the blue snow were taken in laboratories to be studied, but the results have not yet been made public. “This snow melts when taken inside, and our office is full of blue water,” said a local resident.
The Chelyabinsk region was hit by a meteorite in 2013, and locals now fear the snow was contaminated with toxic materials. Some residents even complained of having sore throats after coming into contact with the snow.
