Russian passengers hoping to leave the small city of Igarka in the Krasnoyarsk Krai region of Siberia had to push their plane so it could take off after its landing gear froze in glacial temperatures.
When their plane literally froze on the ground at Igarka airport, above the Arctic Circle, there was no need to panic. Fearing the UTair service to regional capital Krasnoyarsk could be delayed, many of the 70 passengers used brute strength to free the 30-ton Tupolev 134.
The extraordinary story emerges after a passenger posted a video on YouTube showing a group of cheery travelers pushing the Tupolev plane on the snow-covered runway in Igarka, which is beyond the Arctic Circle
